"About This Title" for Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros:Every rider remembers the day they were chosen. Threshing Day returns to the brutal, high-stakes trial at the Basgiath War College, where would-be riders must fight to earn the bond of a dragonor die trying. Amid ruthless competition and searing dragon fire, this collection chronicles the definitive, legendary day that set thirteen distinctive cadets on their paths. In this survival arena, there is only one rule: don't die.Unlike the main novels told from Violet Sorrengail's perspective, Threshing Day is an anthology of thirteen stories told directly from the unique, first-person POVs of the series' most beloved characters. The stories are arranged chronologically, mapping out historical Threshings (like Brennan's trial) all the way to the newest class of cadets.Team Yarros recommends reading the main novels (Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm) first. While Threshing Day acts as a companion piece, it contains spoilers for the series and is best enjoyed after Onyx Storm. The 13 featured stories capture the defining moments for fan-favourite characters, including Xaden Riorson, Rhiannon Matthias, Dain Aetos, Liam Mairi, Ridoc Gamlyn, Sawyer Henrick, Garrick Tavis, Imogen Cardulo, Bodhi Durran, Mira Sorrengail, Brennan Sorrengail, Aaric Graycastle, and Sloane Mairi. Rebecca Yarros has confirmed that while it adds immense depth, reading Threshing Day is not mandatory to understand the plot of the upcoming Book 4.
